Indian Railways and Indian Postal Department have teamed up to launch the Rail Post Gati Shakti Express Cargo Service, a new parcel service in Surat. This service allows customers to send parcels directly from their homes to their intended recipients via a sealed cover. The parcel booking rate slab system has also been removed. The special feature of this service is its timely delivery and its focus on safety. The Railways and the Department of Posts have formed a joint team to promote this service. Special boxes have also been created to ensure that parceled items are kept safe during transport.
The Rail Post Gati Shakti Express Cargo Service will be initially available in four sectors: Delhi-Kolkata, Bengaluru-Guwahati, Surat-Muzaffarpur and Hyderabad-Nizamuddin, covering 15 areas in the first phase. Customers will also have access to a mobile app that allows them to book consignments online, track their parcels, and pay online. Third-party insurance is also available for customers. The launch of this service is a step towards making parcel delivery more accessible and convenient for the people of Surat.
