We Will Hunt Down Every Terrorist Involved in Pahalgam Attack: Amit Shah
New Delhi, May 1 — Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted on Wednesday that the government will leave no stone unturned in tracking down and eliminating every terrorist involved in the recent Pahalgam terror attack. As per agency report, Shah made this strong statement during a high-level security review meeting following nationwide outrage over the brutal incident in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed in the Baisaran area of Jammu and Kashmir on April 22.
Emphasizing the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, Shah stated that those responsible for the heinous crime would be found "wherever they are hiding" and would face the harshest punishment. The Home Minister reiterated that the Centre stands resolute in its mission to restore lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir and ensure the safety of every Indian citizen, especially visitors to the Union Territory.
The Centre has already taken several decisive steps in response to the Pahalgam attack, including the closure of nearly 50 remote tourist spots across the Valley, an increase in troop deployment, intensified intelligence operations, and restrictions on movement in sensitive zones.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA), in collaboration with local police and military intelligence, has been tasked with a detailed probe into the origins and orchestration of the attack. Preliminary findings suggest the involvement of Pakistan-backed militant groups.
Security forces have launched multiple operations in South Kashmir’s forested regions in search of the attackers. Officials believe that the coordinated nature of the attack points to a well-planned conspiracy intended to destabilize the region ahead of the Amarnath Yatra season.
Shah’s declaration comes amid public outrage and mounting political pressure for swift justice. He reassured the nation that the government’s response would be firm and uncompromising.
