INS Surat Receives Grand Welcome at Hazira Port on Gujarat Foundation Day
Surat: Marking Gujarat’s Foundation Day, the Indian Navy’s state-of-the-art warship INS Surat was ceremoniously welcomed at the Adani Port in Hazira, Surat. The historic event was attended by senior naval officers, Rajya Sabha MP Govindbhai Dholakia, local administrative officials, and a large number of enthusiastic citizens.
The celebration began with a vibrant cultural performance by children dressed in naval uniforms, which infused the atmosphere with patriotic fervor. Local police forces ensured a robust security presence throughout the event.
During the ceremony, the naval commanding officer highlighted the key features of INS Surat, explaining that it belongs to the destroyer class and is fully capable of anti-submarine, surface-to-surface, and surface-to-air combat operations. The officer emphasized that the warship represents India’s self-reliance and technological prowess in defense manufacturing.
MP Govind Dholakia described the event as a moment of immense pride for Surat and the entire state of Gujarat. He expressed gratitude to the central government for organizing the ship’s visit on such a significant day, giving Gujarat a prestigious moment to remember. He further announced that INS Surat would remain docked at the port for two days, allowing the public and officials to tour and observe the vessel before it resumes its scheduled naval deployment.
