23-year-old Tutor Flees with 11-year-old Student from Surat, Caught in Running Bus Near Rajasthan Border
Surat, April 30 — A shocking incident unfolded in Surat when a 23-year-old female tuition teacher allegedly fled with her 11-year-old student, creating a wave of concern in the city. Four days after their disappearance, police traced the pair to a private bus near the Rajasthan border in Shamlaji and took them into custody. Both have since been brought back to Surat for further investigation.
According to police sources, the teacher and the student left Surat on the afternoon of April 25. By the time of their arrest, they had traveled more than 390 kilometers by bus. Initial tracking efforts were hindered as the teacher’s known mobile number was found to be switched off at the railway station, making it difficult for police to trace her. CCTV footage from the railway and bus stations yielded no leads, prompting suspicion that the duo may have taken a private transport service.
Investigators later discovered another active mobile number belonging to the teacher. Acting on this information, a four-member police team from Pune tracked the location of the phone, ultimately locating the pair in a moving private bus near Shamlaji around 4 AM.
During preliminary questioning, it was revealed that the teacher had been tutoring the boy for the past three years. The families were also acquainted with each other. Initially, the boy studied with two other students, but over the past year, he had been attending tuition at the teacher’s home alone. This prolonged one-on-one interaction reportedly brought them closer.
The police also found that the teacher had been facing pressure from her family to marry and was often scolded at home, while the student too had been under stress due to academic expectations. Investigators believe these factors may have contributed to the teacher’s decision to flee with the student.
As CCTV footage did not provide any concrete evidence, the police turned to private travel agencies and taxi operators for information. The breakthrough came through the secondary phone number, which enabled authorities to trace the duo and intercept them during transit.
Police are now conducting further inquiries and have initiated legal proceedings to determine the appropriate charges and next steps in this sensitive case.
