Tribal Girl from Sabarkantha District Wins Silver in Under-20 Athletics Championship

Himmatnagar / Ahmedabad, May 5 (Hindustan Times) - Nirma Bhagora, a talented young athlete from the tribal community of Sabarkantha district, has made her district and state proud by securing a silver medal in the long jump event at the Under-20 Athletics Championship of the National Federation Cup held in Karnataka.

Bhagora, who hails from Vijayanagar in Sabarkantha district along the Gujarat border, achieved a remarkable jump of 5.88 meters in the long jump event during the 21st National Federation Cup. For the past two years, she has been receiving specialized training at the Himmatnagar Sports Complex. Coming from a family engaged in agriculture and labor, Nirma has been determined to excel in both her studies and sports.

In an expression of gratitude for her achievement, Nirma credited the Himmatnagar Sports Complex for playing a significant role in her victory. She also won a gold medal in 2019 and aspires to represent India in the Olympic Games, with the goal of winning a medal for her country.

Sanjay Yadav, a coach at the Himmatnagar Sports Complex, spoke highly of Nirma Bhagora's performance in the long jump event, representing Gujarat. He praised her dedication to practice and acknowledged her past successes in winning multiple medals.
