Irrfan Khan’s 5th Death Anniversary: Shoojit Sircar Pens Emotional Letter Remembering the Late Actor

Mumbai, April 29 – On the fifth death anniversary of celebrated actor Irrfan Khan, filmmaker Shoojit Sircar shared a deeply emotional letter on social media, expressing his enduring grief and admiration for the late actor. Sircar, who worked with Irrfan in the acclaimed film Piku, described the profound void left behind by the actor’s absence and the special bond they shared.

In his heartfelt message, Shoojit began by addressing Irrfan directly: “Dear Irrfan, wherever you are, I know you must be doing well. You’ve probably already made many friends there too, and I’m sure people have fallen for your charm, just like we all did here.” He added, “I’m doing fine here. But maybe you don’t know, Irrfan – how much people still love you and how deeply you are missed.”

Reminiscing about their time together, Sircar wrote, “I miss our evenings eating jhaal muri, our conversations, our jokes. Your thoughts on life always fascinated me. I cherish those moments. Remember our long chats about spirituality and science when you were in London? Those conversations were so profound.”

He mentioned that he still keeps the books Irrfan recommended and often reflects on their deep discussions about life and death. “Your smile and those mysterious eyes are etched in my memory. Living each day without you isn’t easy. It’s a deep, unfillable void.”

Sircar also spoke about Irrfan’s family, mentioning his sons Babil and Ayaan, and wife Sutapa Sikdar. “Irrfan, I want to tell you that Babil and Ayaan are doing well. Babil and I play football together. I’ve become a guardian to him now, don’t worry, I’m taking care of them. Sutapa and I often talk. Along with Ronnie, we completed a project for Babil. He’s becoming a fine artist, slowly finding his place in the industry – just the way you envisioned.”

Concluding the post, Shoojit wrote, “I know you’re watching all of us from wherever you are, and that’s comforting. There’s so much more to say, but for now, I’ll say goodbye, my friend. Lots of love. Yours, Shoojit Da.”

Irrfan Khan, known for his unmatched screen presence and soulful performances, passed away on April 29, 2020, after a prolonged battle with cancer. His legacy continues to inspire millions, and his collaborations with filmmakers like Shoojit Sircar, especially in films like Piku, remain timeless.
