Over 450 Illegal Immigrants Detained During Operation in Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad, April 26 – In a major crackdown, more than 450 illegal immigrants were detained from various parts of Ahmedabad during an early morning search operation on Saturday. According to the police, the majority of those detained are from Bangladesh and were allegedly residing in the city without legal authorization.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Ajit Raijian, stated that multiple search operations were conducted across different areas to identify and apprehend foreigners living illegally in the city. As per agency report, Raijian confirmed that over 450 individuals had been detained and interrogations were underway. He added that if they are found without valid documents, deportation proceedings will be initiated against them.
The coordinated operation involved the Ahmedabad Crime Branch, the Special Operations Group, the Economic Offences Wing, and teams from Zone-6 along with personnel from Police Headquarters. Those detained have been temporarily housed at the Kankaria Football Ground, where further legal processes and verifications are being carried out.
