Government Ensuring Increase in Employment Opportunities for Youth: Prime Minister Modi
New Delhi, April 26 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday emphasized that his government is taking multiple steps to ensure a significant rise in employment and self-employment opportunities for the youth. Addressing the 15th edition of the Rozgar Mela' after distributing appointment letters to more than 51,000 selected candidates across various central government departments, Modi highlighted that this is an unprecedented era of opportunities for young Indians.
Speaking at the event held through digital means, Modi cited the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) projections, stating that India is set to remain the fastest-growing major economy globally. He noted that employment opportunities are expanding across all sectors.
As per agency report, the Prime Minister pointed out that industries like automobiles and footwear have reached new production and export records, contributing significantly to job creation. Referring to transformative changes initiated by his government, he mentioned that the volume of cargo handled through inland waterways has surged from 18 million tonnes in 2014 to 145 million tonnes. Additionally, the number of national waterways has increased from five to 110, and their total length has expanded from 2,700 kilometers to over 5,000 kilometers.
Modi underlined that inclusive development has been the hallmark of India’s growth journey. He stressed the growing participation of women across sectors, noting that three out of the top five ranks in this year’s Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examinations were secured by women. He further highlighted that over 10 crore women are engaged through more than 90 lakh self-help groups across the country.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged the significant role played by the youth in propelling India’s progress in technology, data, and innovation. He stated that India now leads the world in real-time digital transactions.
Modi mentioned that the upcoming World Audio-Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) in Mumbai will provide a global platform for youth to showcase their talents. He added that participants will also have opportunities to learn about artificial intelligence (AI) and immersive media, infusing fresh energy into the digital content sector and strengthening India’s presence in emerging global industries.
