SGCCI Signs MoU with Bhutan Chamber to Boost Trade and Investment Opportunities
Surat, April 23 – In a significant step towards international trade collaboration, the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) under its Global Connect initiative. The agreement was formalized during a virtual meeting held on April 23, 2025.
The meeting was attended by SGCCI President Vijay Mewawala, Honorary Secretary Nirav Mandalewala, Global Connect CEO Paresh Bhatt, and BCCI President Tandy Wangchuk. The MoU aims to promote cooperation between entrepreneurs from Surat and Bhutan in the fields of trade, investment, and mutual partnership.
As per agency report, the agreement is intended to provide a global platform for business communities from both countries and facilitate the international market entry of locally produced goods. SGCCI President Vijay Mewawala expressed that the MoU would unlock new avenues for international trade and export for Surat-based industrialists.
On behalf of Bhutan, President Tandy Wangchuk assured full support in acting as a bridge between Bhutanese traders and Surat entrepreneurs, adding that the BCCI would also share investment-related information to enhance cross-border cooperation. He also extended an invitation to Surat’s business delegates to visit Bhutan in May 2025, highlighting the BCCI’s strong liaison with the Indian Embassy to resolve trade issues efficiently.
In addition to the MoU, SGCCI announced plans to host the Global Village Investment and Tourism Expo in August 2025 and the Global Village Exhibition in January 2026. Mewawala invited Bhutanese business representatives to participate in both events, an invitation warmly accepted by the Bhutanese side.
This agreement is seen as a strategic move that opens new doors of opportunity for industrial stakeholders in both nations and sets a firm foundation for future global partnerships.
