Fawad Khan's Film 'Abeer Gulal' to Be Barred from Release in India Following Pahalgam Terror Attack: Sources

New Delhi, April 24 – Pakistani actor Fawad Khan’s upcoming film Abeer Gulal will not be released in India in light of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, as per agency report. Government sources on Thursday confirmed that the film, which was set to mark Khan’s return to Hindi cinema, will not be granted release permission.

The decision comes amid rising public sentiment and calls for a boycott of the film following the attack that claimed the lives of 26 individuals, most of whom were tourists. Abeer Gulal was scheduled for a theatrical release on May 9.

Sources stated that the move reflects the prevailing mood and aligns with the government’s response to the incident. The film’s association with a Pakistani actor, particularly during a period of national mourning and heightened security sensitivity, reportedly influenced the decision.

This action follows a broader pattern of strained cultural exchanges between the two countries, especially during periods of escalated tension.
