Sumul Dairy Announces Record Bonus for Cattle Farmers on its 74th Foundation Day

Surat, April 23 – On the occasion of its 74th foundation anniversary, Sumul Dairy has announced a historic bonus of Rs 120 per kg fat for cattle farmers in Surat and Tapi districts, marking a significant milestone in Gujarat’s dairy sector. The announcement was made under the leadership of Sumul Dairy Chairman Man Singhbhai Patel as part of the cooperative’s vision to offer the highest milk procurement prices in the state.

As per agency report, the new payment structure for the financial year 2024–25 includes an average milk price of Rs 966.40 per kg fat, a BCU fat allowance of Rs 32, and a dividend of Rs 1.60, bringing the total payment to farmers to Rs 1,000 per kg fat.

Over the past five years, Sumul Dairy has achieved a 33.44% increase in milk procurement across Surat and Tapi districts. Beyond just procurement, the cooperative has played a vital role in ensuring sustainability and improving the livelihoods of rural communities. Interest-free livestock loans have been made available, and solar panels have been installed on dairy premises under the Central Government’s Clean Energy Mission.

Additionally, 6,543 family-sized biogas units have been installed, managing 327 metric tonnes of cow dung daily and generating 654 metric tonnes of slurry. In an effort towards environmental conservation, Sumul has planted over 5 million trees in the past five years.

Sumul Dairy has also received six prestigious awards from institutions such as the Ministry of Power, the Indian Dairy Association (IDA), and SGCCI for its outstanding contributions to the dairy sector.

Innovative services such as the 24x7 veterinary service "Sumul Setu" and the "Doodh Ganga" scheme have been launched for cattle farmers, alongside income-enhancing small savings initiatives and solar energy systems installed on cooperative rooftops.

Chairman Man Singhbhai Patel emphasized that Sumul Dairy’s mission extends beyond milk procurement. He stated that it is a dedicated effort toward the prosperity and self-reliance of farmers and cattle rearers.

This landmark decision is expected to directly benefit thousands of cattle farmers in the region and is being hailed as a new benchmark in Gujarat’s dairy industry.
