Surat: Over 400 Saplings Planted at Rupa Dyeing on Earth Day under Theme 'Our Power - Our Planet'
Surat witnessed a significant environmental initiative on World Earth Day as over 400 saplings were planted outside Rupa Dyeing and Printing Mills Private Limited at Pandesara GIDC. The event was organized under the theme "Our Power - Our Planet" and is part of an ongoing effort to green and beautify the industrial estate.
Regional Officer of Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB), Dr. Jigyasa Ben Ojha, personally participated in the plantation drive along with Pandesara Industrial Association President Kamalvijay Tulsiyan, SGTTPA President Jitendra Vakharia, and other industrialists including Sureshbhai Agarwal, Shyamji Agarwal, Shyamji Gupta, and Manish Agarwal.
Dr. Ojha emphasized the importance of trees and said that while the Earth is the source of our energy, it is in our hands whether to pollute it with plastic waste or green it with trees. She noted that trees provide shade, coolness, and oxygen at no cost. Stressing the balance between urbanization and environmental protection, she encouraged the development of small green belts within the city to safeguard future generations from the devastating effects of climate change.
Kamalvijay Tulsiyan stated that if all member units of the industrial estate provide the necessary infrastructure to develop green belts outside their premises, the Pandesara Industrial Association would supply the saplings and also take responsibility for their maintenance. He added that Pandesara GIDC is becoming increasingly green and beautiful, with the association aiming to transform it into Asia’s first green industrial estate.
Jitendra Vakharia, President of Pandesara Green Society, shared that his organization has been utilizing recycled water from the estate since 2014 and has successfully developed 11 green belts, planting more than 45,000 trees to date.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from industry stakeholders, including Madanbhai Khurana, Bansibhai Patel, and Tejas Kapadia, who joined the collective mission to promote sustainability and environmental awareness in the industrial sector of Surat.
