India Finishes Third at ISSF World Cup in Peru

Lima, April 22 – India concluded its campaign at the ISSF World Cup shooting competition in Lima, Peru, with a third-place finish in the overall medal standings. As per agency report, the Indian duo of Prithviraj Tondaiman and Pragati Dubey fell short of reaching the medal round in the mixed team trap event on the final day of the tournament.

India’s last medal came from Simranpreet Kaur Brar, who secured a podium finish in the women’s 25m pistol event on Monday. This took India’s final medal tally to seven, comprising two gold, four silver, and one bronze.

Although the United States also ended with seven medals, it was placed above India in the standings due to its higher number of gold medals. China topped the medal table with a dominant performance, collecting four gold, three silver, and six bronze medals.

The standout performer for India was 18-year-old Suruchi Inder Singh, who won both of the nation’s gold medals. She clinched gold in the women’s 10m air pistol event, surpassing Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker, and later teamed up with Saurabh Chaudhary to secure gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team category.

In the mixed team trap event held on the final day, the pair of Tondaiman and Dubey posted a combined score of 134 to finish in eighth place, while the second Indian pair of Lakshay and Neeru scored 128 and finished 13th. Only the top four teams advanced to the medal round.
