SUVs Accounted for 68.5 Percent of Hyundai’s Total Sales in FY 2024-25

New Delhi, April 21 – Hyundai Motor India announced on Monday that Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) accounted for 68.5 percent of its total vehicle sales in the financial year 2024-25, reflecting a sharp shift in consumer preference towards this segment. The figure marks an eight percent rise in SUV contribution compared to the previous financial year.

As per agency report, the automaker’s total sales for the year stood at 7,62,052 units, slightly lower than the 7,77,876 units sold in 2023-24. Out of this, domestic sales accounted for 5,98,666 units while exports contributed 1,63,386 units.

Hyundai expects the share of SUVs in its overall sales to cross the 70 percent mark in the coming year, buoyed by strong demand and evolving market trends. The company also observed a significant surge in consumer preference for vehicles equipped with premium features. Notably, sales of models with sunroof installations grew by 53 percent, indicating rising aspirations for enhanced comfort and luxury among Indian buyers.

Tarun Garg, Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Motor India, described FY 2024-25 as a landmark year for the company. He stated that two out of every three Hyundai vehicles sold in India during this period were SUVs.

Among its models, the Creta emerged as the best-selling vehicle in the domestic passenger vehicle segment for March 2025, with sales of 18,059 units.
