Kesari Chapter 2 Earns Rs 29.62 Crore in Three Days at Domestic Box Office
New Delhi, April 21 – Akshay Kumar’s latest film Kesari Chapter 2 has grossed Rs 29.62 crore at the domestic box office in its opening weekend, according to figures shared by the film’s production house on Monday.
Directed by debutant Karan Singh Tyagi, the film also features performances by R. Madhavan and Ananya Panday. Released on April 18, the film is based on the life of lawyer C. Sankaran Nair, who challenged the British Empire in court during the 1920s in the aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
As per agency report, the film earned Rs 7.84 crore on its opening day, followed by Rs 10.08 crore on the second day, and Rs 11.70 crore on day three. These figures were posted by Dharma Productions, the film’s production banner, on their official social media channels.
Kesari Chapter 2 explores a lesser-known chapter of colonial Indian history, focusing on the defamation lawsuit filed in 1924 by Michael O’Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab, against Nair. The case was sparked by Nair’s revelations in his writings about British atrocities in Punjab, particularly the events surrounding the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
The movie draws its narrative from The Case That Shook the Empire, a book co-authored by Nair’s grandson Raghu Palat and his wife Pushpa Palat, offering a dramatized portrayal of one man’s courageous legal battle against colonial injustice.
