US Vice President JD Vance and Family Visit Akshardham Temple in Delhi
New Delhi, April 21 – United States Vice President JD Vance, accompanied by his wife Usha Chilukuri and their three children, visited the Akshardham Temple in Delhi on Monday, marking a spiritual start to his four-day official visit to India. As per agency report, the family participated in a guided tour of the temple complex, where they offered prayers and took photographs together, with the children dressed in traditional Indian attire.
Earlier in the day, Vice President Vance and his wife received a warm welcome upon arrival at Palam Airbase in Delhi. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw greeted the American dignitaries on behalf of the Indian government. The arrival ceremony also included formal protocols befitting a high-level diplomatic visit.
The US Vice President is accompanied by a senior delegation of American government officials. His visit comes at a significant time, following US President Donald Trump's recent decision to temporarily suspend a comprehensive tariff regime affecting nearly 60 countries, including India.
Later on Monday evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to host a formal dinner for Vance and his family, following a round of extensive bilateral discussions aimed at enhancing trade, security, and diplomatic cooperation between the two nations.
