Rohit Sharma Finding His Rhythm Again, Big Innings on the Horizon: Mark Boucher
Mumbai, April 18 – Former South African wicketkeeper-batsman Mark Boucher believes that veteran Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma is gradually returning to form and is likely to deliver a big performance soon in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season. As per agency report, Boucher shared his views during a broadcast following Mumbai Indians' recent match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Rohit, who has yet to score a half-century this season, managed a top score of 26 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday. Despite the modest total, Boucher pointed to positive signs in Rohit's batting, particularly his ability to hit trademark sixes and apply pressure on the bowlers. He expressed confidence that the right-handed opener is close to playing a significant innings.
Speaking on Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya, who scored 21 runs off nine deliveries in the same match, Boucher praised the all-rounder for his evolving role in the team. He noted that Pandya’s bowling has become more effective, with him now delivering overs not just during the powerplay but also in the middle stages of the game, resulting in crucial wickets. According to Boucher, this shift is helping Pandya regain confidence, which could translate into stronger all-round performances.
Commenting on England's Will Jacks, Boucher acknowledged that the player appears to be under pressure and has not yet performed to his full potential with the bat. However, he highlighted Jacks' contributions with the ball, which have helped him build confidence. Boucher added that Jacks will aim to maintain this momentum and eventually make a more substantial impact with the bat as well.
Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja also lauded Hardik Pandya’s commitment, stating that the captain is leading from the front in all aspects of the game—batting, bowling, and fielding. Jadeja noted Pandya’s cheerful attitude and resilience, emphasizing that he never gives up regardless of the match situation.
