Former Corporator Chhotubhai Patil Celebrates 61st Birthday with Humanitarian Service at New Civil Hospital, Surat
Surat: Chhotubhai Patil, a former member of the Railway PAC and ex-corporator known for dedicating his life to social service, celebrated his 61st birthday through a series of humanitarian activities at the New Civil Hospital in Surat. Embracing the spirit of "Seva Parmo Dharma," Patil marked the day by distributing essential items to patients, children, mothers, and hospital staff.
As part of the initiative, Chhotubhai Patil and his family donated five wheelchairs, three tricycles, five baby strollers, five walkers, and over 170 toy sets with plate and bowl kits for children. Additionally, 1,100 inpatients at the hospital received fresh fruits. Pregnant and lactating mothers were presented with sarees and nutrition kits comprising jaggery, dates, and chickpeas. Sanitation workers were also honored with sarees in recognition of their efforts.
To spread a message of compassion and joy, colorful balloons were released in the hospital courtyard, creating a festive atmosphere. This annual tradition of dedicating his birthday to public welfare extended into a three-day service campaign this year as well.
According to Iqbal Kadiwala, Vice President of the Gujarat Nursing Council, Chhotubhai Patil has been contributing to New Civil Hospital's welfare activities for over 35 years. He noted that whether during the COVID-19 crisis, natural disasters, or emergencies, Patil's readiness to help is unwavering.
Surat BJP city president Pareshbhai Patel also praised Patil, calling him a "symbol of selfless service" and appreciating his tireless contributions during the pandemic and his ongoing commitment to supporting the underprivileged.
The service initiative was attended by corporators Dinanath Patil, Geetaben Rabari, Urmilaben Tripathi, Dr. Balwant Patel, Chhotubhai's wife and sitting councillor Rohiniben, Dr. Ketan Nayak, Iqbal Kadiwala, Vibhor Chugh, Bipin Mekwan, Nilesh Lathia, and members of the medical and nursing staff.
In addition to the donation drive, plans were also announced to organize blood donation camps, eye check-ups, and other medical outreach programs aimed at strengthening the spirit of healthcare and community service in Surat.
