Air Hostess Sexual Assault Case: Gurugram Police Yet to Identify Accused
Gurugram, April 16: The Gurugram police have yet to identify the accused involved in the alleged sexual assault of a 46-year-old air hostess at Medanta Hospital, where she was admitted and placed on a ventilator. The hospital has stated that the allegations are still unverified, but it is fully cooperating with the investigation.
As per agency report, Medanta Hospital's Medical Superintendent, Dr. Sanjay Durani, confirmed that all relevant records, including CCTV footage from the specified time period, have been handed over to the Gurugram police. He added that no charges have been substantiated so far.
According to the woman's complaint, she had arrived in Gurugram for company training and was staying at a hotel when her health deteriorated, prompting her initial admission to a private hospital. On April 5, her husband shifted her to another hospital in Gurugram, identified as Medanta, for further treatment. After being discharged on April 13, she recounted the traumatic events to her husband, alleging that she had been sexually assaulted while on a ventilator on April 6.
The victim, who was semi-conscious and unable to speak at the time, claimed that several hospital staff members were involved in the assault. She also mentioned that two nurses were present during the incident but did not intervene.
Following her complaint, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed at Sadar police station against unidentified hospital staff on Monday. Her statement was recorded the same day before a magistrate.
Gurugram Police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and efforts are being made to identify the culprits. He stated that the police are examining CCTV footage and staff duty rosters to trace those present during the time of the incident.
Medanta Hospital, in its official statement, reiterated its commitment to fully supporting the authorities in their investigation.
