Heavy Vehicles Banned on Key Routes Near Surat Railway Station for One Year Due to Flyover Construction
Surat: In view of the ongoing modernization of Surat Railway Station and the construction work to connect a new flyover bridge with the Varachha Flyover, Surat Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot has issued a notification banning the movement and parking of heavy vehicles and luxury buses on several routes until March 31, 2026.
As per media report, this temporary restriction has been imposed to ensure smooth traffic flow during the construction phase. The ban applies to routes leading to Surat Railway Station from Vaishali Three Roads via Varachha Main Road. Instead, vehicles must take the alternate route through Varachha Flyover, turn right from Vaishali Three Roads, proceed via Umiya Dham Circle and Bhawani Circle, and then take Naginawadi Railway Overbridge towards Kiran Hospital to access nearby areas.
Heavy vehicles and luxury buses heading from Kapodara area, Gayatri Circle, Sitanagar Circle, and Bombay Market must divert at Kapodara Junction or Hirabag, and follow the route via Shriram Mobile, Rachna Circle, Gayatri Circle, Reshma Circle, and old Bombay Market.
All vehicles from Varachha will be prohibited from accessing the railway station via Ayurvedic Garnalu. Instead, they may reach the station through Lal Darwaja, Amisha Crossroads, and Daruwala Petrol Pump.
Vehicles moving from Sumul Dairy towards Varachha via Ayurvedic Garnalu must use the route from Kiran Hospital (Naginawadi Circle) via Alkapuri Bridge, Chahi Bhawani Circle, and Gaushala Circle. Similarly, heavy vehicles from Lal Darwaja to Varachha via Ayurvedic Garnalu must follow the same diversion through Gotala Wadi and Kiran Hospital.
Vehicles heading towards Kamrej must take the alternative route from Falsawadi via Sahara Darwaja, Sardar Market, Parvat Patiya, and Canal Road to reach the desired destination.
GSRTC government buses from Surat Central Bus Station towards Kamrej will also not be allowed to pass through Ayurvedic Garnalu. Instead, they must travel via Falsawadi, Sahara Darwaja, Sardar Market, Parvat Patiya, and Canal Road to connect to the national highway.
GSRTC buses coming from Kamrej towards Surat Station may take the Simada Crossroads, turn left at Simada Canal T-point, and continue via Parvat Patiya, Sardar Market, Sahara Darwaja, and Amisha Hotel to reach the station.
All vehicles using these alternate routes must continue to adhere to the restrictions and guidelines outlined in the 2019 notification issued by the Commissioner of Police. Exemptions will only apply to on-duty police vehicles, emergency services such as fire brigade and ambulances, and SMC vehicles. Violations of these orders will result in legal penalties.
