NTPC Kawas Organizes Free Eye Check-Up Camp; Cataract Patients to Receive Surgery at No Cost
NTPC Kawas, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, organized a free eye check-up camp on April 12, 2025, at its Arogyam Hospital. The camp facilitated eye examinations for residents of project-affected villages, where individuals diagnosed with cataracts were identified. These selected patients will undergo cataract surgeries, including lens implantation using advanced medical equipment, at Eye Q Hospital in Surat—entirely free of charge.
This healthcare initiative is being implemented by NTPC Kawas in collaboration with Eye Q Hospital, Surat, as part of its CSR policy. While Arogyam Hospital carried out the screening and all necessary diagnostics free of cost, NTPC Kawas will also bear the full cost of the surgeries. Eye Q Hospital, on its part, will provide free transportation, accommodation, meals, and medicines for the patients undergoing treatment.
Inaugurating the camp, Shri Suresh John David, Head of Project, NTPC Kawas, stated,
“NTPC is not only lighting up households across India but is also striving to bring light into people’s lives through free eye care camps under its CSR policy. Initiatives like these reinforce NTPC Kawas’s commitment to social responsibility.”
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Premlata Kurkanji added, “This camp will not only benefit residents of project-affected villages but will also strengthen our sense of responsibility and sensitivity towards community welfare.”
The event was graced by the presence of Smt. Shanija M. George, President of Swati Mahila Mandal (NTPC Kawas), Shri Sanjeet Kumar Minz, Additional General Manager (Human Resources), Shri Vineet Gupta, Additional General Manager (Technical Services), Dr. Mala Chandwani, Chief Medical Officer, NTPC Jhanor-Gandhar, and Dr. Payoj Tewari, Chief Medical Officer, KRIBHCO, whose presence added to the dignity of the occasion.
A large number of patients from project-affected villages attended the camp. The presence of local sarpanches and community representatives further reflected the spirit of collaboration. Through its continued contributions in areas such as health, education, skill development, and infrastructure, NTPC Kawas continues to establish itself as a responsible and committed corporate entity.
