Surat Municipal Corporation Launches Inspection Drive Amid Rising Demand for Ice-Based Delicacies
Surat: With the onset of intense summer heat, the health department of the Surat Municipal Corporation has intensified its vigilance to safeguard public health. In a recent crackdown, food safety officers conducted surprise inspections at 13 establishments across the city that sell ice dishes and flavored ice treats.
During the operation, officials collected a total of 18 samples, including ice dishes, flavored ice balls, creams, and syrups. These samples have been sent to the public health laboratory for quality testing. Based on the laboratory reports, appropriate action will be taken against establishments found in violation of safety norms.
The move comes in light of the rising consumption of ice-based treats during the summer season, which increases the risk of contamination if proper hygiene is not maintained. The inspection teams covered areas such as Varachha, Mota Varachha, Sachin, Adajan, VIP Road, and Ghod Dod Road, where such items are in high demand.
This initiative by the health department is seen as a proactive measure to ensure that citizens remain protected from potential health hazards during the scorching summer months.
