Surat Chamber of Commerce Announces Election Schedule for President and Vice President Posts
Surat – The Surat Chamber of Commerce's election committee has officially announced the schedule for the upcoming elections to the posts of President and Vice President. The process began on Tuesday with the collection and submission of nomination forms, marking the start of a highly anticipated electoral phase following the conclusion of the management committee elections.
Current Vice President Nikhil Madrasi has filed his nomination for the President’s post. Meanwhile, nine members have collected nomination forms for the Vice President position, setting the stage for an engaging contest. Although former presidents have consistently advocated for holding elections for both posts, it is noteworthy that a Vice President election was held last year.
This year, efforts are again underway by former office bearers to build consensus and possibly avoid a competitive vote for the Vice President post. The final date to submit nominations is April 7, and scrutiny of the nominations will take place on April 8. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is April 14, with elections scheduled for April 27. The vote counting will be conducted on the same day at the chamber’s Sarsana premises.
The Vice President race promises to be particularly interesting, with several notable figures entering the fray. Among those who have taken nomination forms are Hardik Shah, Mrinal Shukla, Mitish Modi, Ashok Jirawala, Manish Kapadia, Janak Pachigar, Bharat Vanawala, Sanjay Gandhi, and Bandana Bhattacharya.
As the election approaches, the business community in Surat is closely watching the developments, especially given the significance of the leadership roles within the Chamber of Commerce in shaping industrial and trade policy at the local level.
