Second Rail Line to be Constructed on Rajkot-Jamnagar-Kanalus Route
Railway Department Publishes Notification for Land Acquisition
The Indian Railways has initiated a special project to construct a second broad gauge line on the Rajkot-Jamnagar-Kanalus route. To move forward with the project, the Railway Department has published a notification for land acquisition in the Rajkot and Jamnagar districts.
As part of this process, the head office of Western Railway in Mumbai has sent a notice to the villagers of six villages in the Jamnagar taluk, which includes non-cultivable and non-irrigated lands. The notice has been given to the land owners-occupiers of these lands based on 7/12 instances of the lands under different survey numbers. In total, 57 land occupiers in the six villages of Jamnagar taluka have received the notice under the land acquisition process.
The six villages affected are Khimrana, Sheikhpat, Aliya, Moda, Chawda, and Jamvanthali, with 5, 7, 12, 20, 12, and 1 land occupiers respectively. The land acquisition process started in May 2022 and has now reached Jamnagar taluka.
Although the physical process of land acquisition has yet to begin, the railway system has taken the necessary first step to acquire the land needed to complete the project. The construction of the second rail line on Rajkot-Jamnagar-Kanalus route is expected to benefit the region's transportation sector and facilitate the movement of goods and people.
