Surat Homeguards Honored for Dedicated Service at Special Rank Test Recognition Event
Surat – A special felicitation ceremony was organized under the leadership of Homeguards Commandant Dr. Prafull Shiroya to honor the successful candidates of the Platoon Commander Rank Test 2024–25. The event also recognized the long-standing service of two dedicated members of the Surat City C-Zone Unit.
Arun S. Tiwari, holding certificate number 15 and serving as Company Quarter Master, has been contributing to the force since March 4, 1993, marking 32 years of service. Manoj P. Bari, with certificate number 601, also serving as Company Quarter Master, has completed 20 years of service since joining on May 27, 2005.
Both individuals participated in the state-level Platoon Commander Rank Test organized by the Gujarat Homeguards at Jarod in Vadodara’s Waghodia Taluka. Arun S. Tiwari secured the 83rd position, while Manoj P. Bari ranked 88th in the district merit list. The two were specially honored during the rank conferral ceremony for their achievements.
As per agency report, District Commandant Dr. Prafullbhai Shiroya emphasized that the Homeguards is an honorary organization, allowing individuals to serve the nation and society while continuing their regular professions. The unit is open to both men and women aged 18 to 45, with a minimum qualification of passing the 10th standard.
The event was organized under the guidance of Officer Commanding Thomas Pathare of the Sachin Homeguard Unit and Officer Commanding Girish H. Patel of the C-Zone. Senior Platoon Commanders Vijay T. Mahajan, Rakesh R. Wagh, Mahendra P. Luhar, Ravindra R. Chabhar, part-time clerk Praveen Kohle, and NCOs including Ganesh Patil, Heeralal Wagh, Raju Wagh, Nitin Mahajan, and Kailash Jadhav were present along with several other Homeguards.
The gathering celebrated the success of the rank test participants and highlighted the important role Homeguards play in supporting the civil administration and promoting civic discipline.
