New Delhi, April 1 – As Lucknow Super Giants take on Punjab Kings in the 13th match of IPL 2025 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday, cricket fans will be eagerly watching the explosive form of Nicholas Pooran and Shreyas Iyer. Both players have emerged as leading six-hitters this season, setting the stage for a thrilling personal contest within the team rivalry.
Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer has played just one match in the tournament so far but made a massive impact by smashing nine sixes in a single innings — the highest by any player in a single innings this season. He achieved this feat against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where he came in at number three and scored a blazing 97 off 42 balls. His knock powered Punjab Kings to a commanding total of 244 runs. Despite the pressure, Gujarat Titans fell short by 11 runs.
On the other side, Lucknow Super Giants’ Nicholas Pooran has already played two matches and has hit a total of 13 sixes, placing him second in the list of most sixes in a single innings so far this season. In his opening game against Delhi Capitals, Pooran batted at number three and scored a fiery 75 off 30 balls, clearing the boundary seven times. His effort helped Lucknow set a target of 210 runs in 20 overs, although Delhi Capitals managed to chase it down with just one wicket in hand.
Pooran continued his aggressive form in the next match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Chasing a target of 191, he once again took the crease at number three and smashed 70 runs off just 26 balls. This quickfire innings, which included six sixes, was instrumental in guiding his team to a five-wicket victory.
As per agency report, with both Pooran and Iyer showcasing their destructive batting capabilities, today's encounter is expected to be more than just a battle for two points.
