Gujarat Celebrates Eid with Traditional Fervour; No Reports of Untoward Incidents, Say Police
Ahmedabad, 31 March – Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated across Gujarat with traditional fervour and communal harmony as members of the Muslim community gathered in large numbers to offer prayers and greet each other on the festive occasion.
As per agency report, no untoward incidents were reported from any part of the state during the celebrations, according to the Gujarat police.
One of the prominent gatherings took place at the historic Jama Masjid in Ahmedabad’s Bhadra area, where a large number of devotees assembled for the Eid prayers.
Extending greetings to the public, Congress leader and party spokesperson Shaktisinh Gohil, along with Gujarat’s sole Congress MLA Imran Khedawala, conveyed their Eid wishes through social media platforms.
Ahead of the festival, Gujarat Director General of Police Vikas Sahay had conducted a crucial video conference on Saturday with all police commissioners and superintendents. During the meeting, he directed law enforcement authorities to ensure peace and security across the state during both Eid and the Sindhi New Year festival, Cheti Chand.
Sahay instructed officers to deploy adequate police personnel in crowded areas, monitor activities through drones, and maintain a close watch on social media to curb the spread of rumours and misinformation.
The peaceful and joyous observance of Eid in Gujarat highlighted the effective coordination between law enforcement and the community, ensuring a safe environment for festive celebrations throughout the state.
