Indian-Origin Man and Daughter Killed in Virginia Store Shooting
An Indian-origin man and his 24-year-old daughter were shot and killed at a store in Accomack County, Virginia, as per agency report. Local media reported that the victims, 56-year-old Pradeep Kumar Patel and his daughter, were working at a store located along Lankford Highway where the fatal shooting occurred.
According to the Shore Daily News, the Accomack County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of gunfire shortly after 5:30 a.m. on March 20. Upon arrival, officers found a man unconscious and suffering from gunshot wounds. During a search of the premises, police also located a woman who had sustained similar injuries.
The man was declared dead at the scene, while the woman was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities confirmed that a suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting. The sheriff's office announced the arrest late Thursday night, although details about the motive and the identity of the suspect have not been disclosed yet.
