New Police Outposts Inaugurated in Varachha and Saroli Areas of Surat
Two new police outposts were inaugurated in the Varachha and Saroli areas of Surat, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the city’s law enforcement infrastructure. The police commissioner of Surat, Anupam Singh Gehlot, inaugurated the Labheshwar Police Outpost in Varachha and the Saniya Hemad Outpost in Saroli. The event was attended by local legislators and Gujarat's Education Minister Prafull Panseriya, reflecting strong administrative support for the expansion of policing services.
Commissioner Gehlot highlighted during the ceremony that the recent state budget has approved the establishment of two new police stations in Surat—Ashwinikumar and Textile Police Stations. The Labheshwar outpost, previously operating in a smaller capacity, has now been expanded due to increased administrative needs and a broader coverage area. The outpost now falls under four municipal wards and spans three legislative assembly constituencies, necessitating a larger presence and enhanced capabilities. Local MLAs and Zone One staff of the municipal corporation will work in coordination with the police at this location.
A significant number of local residents participated in the inauguration ceremony, underscoring community involvement in public safety initiatives. In Saroli, another outpost was established in Saniya Hemad village to provide improved surveillance and quicker response, particularly for the nearby textile markets and rural areas.
Commissioner Gehlot noted that the Labheshwar outpost now serves a region that includes offices from both the diamond and textile industries and covers the jurisdiction of three MLAs and four roads, totaling sixteen municipal wards. The expanded outpost aims to handle minor disputes and regional issues more efficiently.
He further stated that along with the current budget allocation, groundwork has already begun to identify suitable land for the Ashwinikumar Police Station. Following a proposal submitted by local legislators, the station has now received formal approval. The developments signal the government’s commitment to enhancing law enforcement coverage in rapidly growing areas of Surat.
