Experts Predict Top Run-Scorer of IPL 2025, Virat Kohli Not in the List
Mumbai, March 22 : As the excitement builds for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, cricket experts have begun predicting which player will emerge as the tournament's highest run-scorer. Surprisingly, despite being the all-time leading run-getter in IPL history, star batsman Virat Kohli has not been named by any of the experts.
A number of analysts believe that Mumbai Indians’ senior opener Rohit Sharma could top the run charts this season, while others see promising performances coming from Shubman Gill or KL Rahul. However, Rajasthan Royals’ young left-hander Yashasvi Jaiswal has emerged as a favorite among some former international stars.
As per agency report, former England captain Michael Vaughan, ex-South African all-rounder Shaun Pollock, and a third unnamed expert have all backed Jaiswal to have a breakthrough season with the bat. Their confidence lies in his aggressive approach and consistent performances in recent domestic and international outings.
Meanwhile, Punjab Kings’ new signing Shreyas Iyer also found support from several commentators. Former Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist predicted that Iyer could end up scoring the most runs this season. Among the prominent Indian voices, former opener Virender Sehwag and well-known commentator Harsha Bhogle have placed their bets on KL Rahul, citing his class and reliability in the T20 format.
Former Indian spinner Murali Kartik tipped Shubman Gill to dominate the scoring charts, while former Australian women's captain and current commentator Lisa Sthalekar believes Rohit Sharma is set to shine this year.
With so many top contenders in the mix and opinions divided, the IPL 2025 season promises a thrilling contest for the Orange Cap, and fans are eager to see which prediction comes true once the tournament gets underway.
