India Set to be Naxal-Free by March 2026, Says Amit Shah
New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has termed the recent operations against Naxal insurgents in Chhattisgarh a major success, asserting that India is on track to becoming Naxal-free by March 31, 2026. His statement follows a series of encounters in the state where security forces eliminated 22 Naxal operatives.
As per agency report, security forces engaged in an operation in Bijapur district on Thursday morning, where 18 Naxals were killed, while another encounter in Kanker district resulted in the deaths of four more insurgents. During these operations, one security personnel lost his life.
Shah, in a social media post, highlighted that the operations were a significant step towards a Naxal-free India. He emphasized that the Modi government has adopted a "ruthless approach" against Naxal insurgents. While the government has offered multiple avenues for surrender and rehabilitation, those who refuse to lay down arms are being dealt with under a zero-tolerance policy.
He reiterated that with the continuous efforts of security forces and strategic counter-insurgency measures, the country is set to eliminate the Naxal threat entirely by March 2026.
