New Delhi: The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA), a public sector entity, has launched its first sustainable bond to raise ₹1,247 crore. The initiative aims to strengthen financial support for India's rapidly expanding green energy infrastructure.

As per agency report, the perpetual bond has been issued at an annual coupon rate of 8.40 percent. IREDA Chairman and Managing Director Pradeep Kumar Das emphasized that the issuance of sustainable bonds is a strategic move to enhance the company’s capital base, allowing for increased financing of renewable energy projects. He stated that the initiative aligns with India’s broader vision of transitioning toward a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.

In addition to this, IREDA received a tax refund of ₹24.48 crore from the Income Tax Department on March 19, 2025. The refund pertains to partial relief granted by the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals) concerning certain disallowances made for the assessment year 2011-12.
