18 Naxalites Killed in Chhattisgarh Encounter, One Security Personnel Loses Life

Bijapur: A fierce encounter between security forces and Naxalites in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Thursday morning resulted in the death of 18 Naxalites, while one security personnel also lost his life. As per agency report, the exchange of fire took place in the border region between Bijapur and Dantewada districts, under the jurisdiction of the Gangloor police station.

According to police officials, a joint team of security forces was dispatched on an anti-Naxal operation in the area. The encounter began around 7 AM when the forces came under heavy fire from the Naxalites. In the prolonged gunfight that ensued, security personnel managed to neutralize 18 insurgents.

Authorities confirmed that a large cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the encounter site. However, the operation also claimed the life of a District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel from Bijapur.

The security forces are continuing their combing operation in the area to ensure no remaining threats persist. The region has been a hotspot for Naxal activity, and this latest encounter marks a significant success in the ongoing efforts to curb insurgency in Chhattisgarh.
