PM Modi Hails Mahakumbh as a Symbol of ‘Sabka Prayas,’ Showcasing India’s Grandeur to the World
New Delhi, March 18 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the Prayagraj Mahakumbh as a turning point in India's history, stating that it exemplified the spirit of ‘Sabka Prayas’ (everyone’s effort) and presented India’s vast cultural and spiritual grandeur to the world.
Addressing the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Modi praised the collective efforts that made the event a grand success. He acknowledged the devotees, the people of Uttar Pradesh, and particularly those of Prayagraj, for their role in organizing the historic gathering.
Modi drew parallels between the Mahakumbh and the mythological efforts of Bhagirath, who is said to have brought the Ganges to Earth through his penance. He emphasized that Mahakumbh showcased the essence of India's national consciousness and inspired new resolutions.

He further stated that Mahakumbh dispelled doubts about India's capabilities, demonstrating the nation's collective strength and cultural unity. According to Modi, one of the greatest outcomes of the Mahakumbh was the "nectar of unity," as people from every region and background came together, shedding their individual identities to embrace a collective spirit.
Comparing the Mahakumbh to historic milestones in India's awakening, such as Swami Vivekananda’s speech at the Chicago Parliament of Religions, Mahatma Gandhi’s Dandi March, and Subhas Chandra Bose’s call for "Delhi Chalo", Modi declared that Mahakumbh reflected the resurgence of an awakened India.
Recalling his recent visit to Mauritius, Modi mentioned that he carried sacred water from the Triveni Sangam to the Ganga Talao in Mauritius, where the moment was met with immense devotion and enthusiasm.
Concluding his speech, Modi emphasized the need to expand India’s "river festival" traditions, ensuring that future generations understand the importance of water conservation and river cleanliness. He celebrated the growing pride among India's youth in embracing their heritage, faith, and traditions, a sentiment deeply reinforced by Mahakumbh 2025.
