Delhi Capitals Appoint Faf du Plessis as Vice-Captain for IPL 2025
New Delhi, March 17 – South African veteran batter Faf du Plessis has been appointed as the vice-captain of Delhi Capitals for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, set to begin on March 22. The announcement was made by the franchise on Monday.
This decision follows the franchise’s earlier announcement on Friday, naming Indian all-rounder Axar Patel as the team’s captain for the season.
Expressing his excitement, du Plessis stated in a video released by the franchise that he is thrilled to be part of Delhi Capitals and looks forward to working with the team. He emphasized that the squad has exceptional players and is eager to contribute to their success.
The 40-year-old cricketer previously captained Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for three seasons. However, RCB did not retain him ahead of last year’s mega auction, allowing Delhi Capitals to acquire him for ₹2 crore.
