Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel Inaugurates ‘Umapuram Dashabdi Mahotsav’ at Umia Mataji Temple in Surat
Surat, March 17 – The ‘Umapuram Dashabdi Mahotsav,’ celebrating ten years of the Umia Mataji Temple in Dindoli, Surat, commenced with the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The grand event, spanning from March 17 to March 20, was marked by religious fervor and community participation.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited the temple, offered prayers, and sought blessings for the health and prosperity of the people of Gujarat and the nation. He emphasized that the Umapuram Dashabdi Mahotsav is not just a religious event but a celebration of the Patidar community’s glorious past, present achievements, and future aspirations.
During his address, Patel lauded the contributions of the Patidar community, acknowledging their dedication, hard work, and spirit of social service. He remarked that the community has embraced the principle of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and invests its wealth in the welfare of society, setting an inspiring example.
Encouraging citizens to participate in environmental conservation initiatives led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister urged people to support campaigns like Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam and Catch the Rain. He highlighted the importance of combating global warming, conserving rainwater, and increasing tree plantation. Additionally, he emphasized the need to maintain cleanliness in Surat, follow traffic rules, and be responsible citizens.
State Industries Minister Balvantsinh Rajput also addressed the gathering, commending the Patidar community for its significant contributions to Gujarat and India's development. He noted that the community has excelled in multiple fields, from agriculture to large-scale industries.
One of the key highlights of the event was the felicitation of major donors who contributed to the temple and its development. The official theme song of the festival, Vande Umapuram, was also launched. Thousands of devotees participated in prayers and religious ceremonies at the temple.
Located in the Omnagar area of Dindoli, the Umia Mataji Temple, popularly known as Umapuram, is a revered site for the Kadva Patidar community. The temple complex also houses idols of Shri Umeshwar Mahadev, Shri Ganesh, Radha-Krishna, Sankatmochan Hanuman, and other deities. Festivals such as Navratri, Diwali, and Janmashtami are celebrated with grandeur at this temple.
The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Surat Mayor Daksheshbhai Mavani, MLAs Manu Patel and Sandeep Desai, City BJP President Paresh Patel, Deputy Mayor Dr. Narendra Patil, Standing Committee Chairman Rajan Patel, former minister Rajni Patel, Umapuram Temple Trust President Bhagwanbhai Patel, and festival committee leaders such as Kirtibhai Patel, Rameshbhai Patel, Jagriti Patel, Vishal Patel, Prahlad Patel, Dahyabhai, and Rajubhai Patel. Numerous devotees gathered to take part in the celebrations, making the event a grand success.
