British Woman Allegedly Assaulted and Raped in Delhi Hotel, Two Arrested
New Delhi, March 13 – A British woman was allegedly molested and raped at a hotel in the Mahipalpur area of Delhi, leading to the arrest of two individuals, as confirmed by police officials on Thursday. The incident, which took place on Tuesday, has been reported to the British High Commission.
As per agency report, the woman had developed an acquaintance with one of the accused, 24-year-old Kailash, through a social media platform. She had traveled from Goa to Delhi to meet him. Initially, a housekeeping staff member allegedly molested her in the hotel elevator. Later, the man she had befriended online is accused of raping her inside the hotel room.
A senior police official stated that the woman had been in contact with Kailash for over a month through social media. Due to his limited English proficiency, he relied on translation applications to communicate with her. When the woman arrived in India, they planned to meet in Delhi, leading her to book a hotel room in Mahipalpur.
The woman alleged that upon meeting in the hotel, Kailash sexually assaulted her. Following her complaint, the police promptly took action, arresting both suspects. Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the hotel to piece together the sequence of events. The investigation remains ongoing.
