Married Woman Kidnaps Infant to Deceive Lover, Rescued by Police in Bihar

Palghar, March 11 – In a shocking case, a 38-year-old married woman from Maharashtra's Palghar district kidnapped her three-month-old nephew to convince her lover that the child was theirs and start a new life with him. The woman was arrested on Sunday after police traced her to Bihar’s Nalanda district and rescued the child.

As per agency report, the woman took the infant from her sister-in-law on February 18, under the pretext of taking him out for a stroll, but never returned. When the family realized the child was missing, they lodged a complaint at the Mandvi police station. Acting on the complaint, police registered an FIR under IPC Section 137(2) for kidnapping.

Using technical surveillance and intelligence inputs, police tracked the woman to Nalanda, Bihar. A police team, with assistance from the Nalanda Divisional Intelligence Unit (DIU) and local law enforcement, raided several houses in Mirnagar’s Suryachak village near the Bihar-Jharkhand border. The woman was found in a house with the kidnapped child, who was safely recovered and reunited with his family.

Investigations revealed that the woman, who is married with three children, wanted to start a new life with her lover in Bihar. To hide her past, she had claimed to be unmarried and falsely pretended to be pregnant. She kidnapped her nephew to convince her lover that the infant was their child, even showing him the baby over video calls to strengthen her deception.

Police stated that the woman intended to use the child as proof of her supposed new beginning. The case remains under investigation, and further legal action is being pursued.
