NTPC Officer Shot Dead in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand; Police Launch Investigation
Hazaribagh, March 8 – An NTPC officer was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district on Saturday. Police have launched an investigation into the incident, which took place in broad daylight near Fateh Chowk in Katkamsandi police station area.
As per agency reports, the victim has been identified as Kumar Gaurav, a 42-year-old Deputy General Manager (Dispatch) at the NTPC’s Keradari coal mining project. He was traveling from his residence in Hazaribagh city to the coal mine site when he was ambushed by armed assailants and fatally shot.
Hazaribagh Superintendent of Police Arvind Kumar Singh confirmed the attack and stated that Gaurav was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Originally from Nalanda, Bihar, Gaurav had been working with NTPC for several years.
Authorities have initiated a search operation to track down the perpetrators. Police are investigating possible motives behind the killing, including professional disputes and personal enmities. The incident has raised concerns over the safety of officials working in Jharkhand’s coal belt, an area often associated with industrial and security challenges.
