Jamnagar Medical Student Tarika Ramchandani Wins Four Gold Medals at Saurashtra University Convocation
Rajkot, March 4: At the 59th convocation ceremony of Saurashtra University, Jamnagar Medical College student Tarika Anandrao Ramchandani emerged as the top performer, securing four gold medals. Originally from Dahod, she completed her schooling in the tribal-dominated district before pursuing medical studies. She now aims to specialize in surgery and contribute to the field of medicine.
Speaking to the media before the ceremony, Tarika highlighted the educational challenges in Dahod, emphasizing the need for better academic facilities and quality teachers in government and grant-in-aid schools. She pointed out that the rising dependence on private coaching classes for higher secondary education (grades 11-12) is a growing concern. She stressed that until government and grant-supported schools receive well-qualified teachers, students from economically weaker backgrounds will struggle to access quality education.
Reflecting on her academic journey, she described herself as an average student throughout medical school. She mentioned that while her earlier results were moderate, her strong presentation skills during the final exams played a crucial role in securing outstanding marks at the undergraduate level.
Tarika credited her success to her family's continuous encouragement and their belief in her potential. She shared that while her parents never pressured her academically, their guidance and motivation helped shape her aspirations to become a competent and compassionate doctor. Apart from medicine, Tarika is also passionate about music and enjoys playing the harmonium, guitar, and piano.
