Special Screening of 'Sholay' to Mark its 50th Anniversary at IIFA 2025 in Jaipur

New Delhi, March 4: To celebrate the golden jubilee of Sholay, the iconic Bollywood film directed by Ramesh Sippy, a special screening will be held at Raj Mandir Cinema in Jaipur as part of IIFA 2025. The film, which completed fifty years since its release in August, remains a landmark in Indian cinema, and its screening at one of India's most famous theaters will be a tribute to its lasting legacy.

As per agency report, the Silver Jubilee edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards is scheduled to take place on March 8 and 9 in Jaipur. The event will honor cinematic excellence across ten categories, including best film, best direction, best performance in a leading role (male and female), best performance in a supporting role (male and female), best performance in a negative role, best music direction, and best playback singer (male and female).

Featuring an ensemble cast of Sanjeev Kumar, Amjad Khan, Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, and Jaya Bachchan, Sholay continues to be celebrated as one of the greatest films in Indian cinema. The upcoming special screening at Raj Mandir Cinema, a venue renowned for its grandeur and historical significance, will honor both the film’s timeless impact and the theater’s five-decade-long journey as a cherished space for cinema lovers.

In a press statement released on Tuesday, IIFA co-founder Andre Timmins remarked that IIFA 2025 is more than just an annual celebration; it is a journey through time. He emphasized that hosting Sholay’s 50th-anniversary screening at Raj Mandir is a way to pay tribute to the film’s enduring influence. As IIFA celebrates its silver jubilee, the event aims to honor cinematic legends, memories, and the magic of storytelling that has captivated generations.

Timmins further described Sholay as more than just a film, calling it an emotion and a timeless masterpiece that continues to inspire both filmmakers and audiences. He expressed that Raj Mandir Cinema is the perfect venue to commemorate the film’s legacy, given its rich history and status as a beloved destination for moviegoers over the past fifty years.

IIFA 2025 will also feature fierce competition among films, with Lapata Ladies leading the nominations with nine entries. Horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Stree 2 - Sarkate Ka Aatank follow closely behind with seven and six nominations, respectively.

The event will be hosted by Karan Johar and Kartik Aaryan, while Shah Rukh Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Madhuri Dixit Nene are set to deliver special performances, adding to the grandeur of the evening.
