Rajkot, March 2: A tragic accident in the Kewdawadi area of Rajkot claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy after his bike crashed into a pole due to unmarked speed breakers. The accident occurred late at night when the teenager and his cousin, returning home from a musical event, failed to notice the speed breakers due to the lack of white markings.
As per report, the two cousins were riding home when they encountered two speed breakers within a 10-meter stretch, both of which had no reflective paint or markings. Due to poor visibility, they lost control of the bike, which subsequently crashed into a pole. The teenager, identified as Sumit Parmar, died on the spot, while his cousin sustained serious injuries.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV, highlighting the negligence in traffic infrastructure maintenance. The accident has sparked public outrage, with residents questioning the municipal administration’s accountability. Many are demanding answers as to why authorities impose fines on citizens for traffic violations, yet fail to ensure proper road safety measures, leading to fatal accidents.
The victim’s family is devastated by the loss, and calls for immediate corrective action have intensified to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
