Film Shooting at Yamuna Film City Expected to Begin by 2027: Boney Kapoor

Noida (UP), February 28: The highly anticipated Yamuna Film City, being developed in Gautam Buddh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, is set to commence film shootings by 2027, with the groundbreaking ceremony expected by late March or early April. Film producer Boney Kapoor shared this update during a visit to the Yamuna Development Authority office on Thursday.

Boney Kapoor's company, Bayview Projects, in collaboration with the Bhutani Group, is involved in building the Yamuna Film City, a key initiative under the Uttar Pradesh government's ambitious development plans. During his visit, Kapoor was officially handed over the possession of the land, with Ashish Bhutani, CEO of Bhutani Group, also present at the event.

Kapoor expressed his vision for the project, stating, "Yamuna Film City will be the finest film city in the world. Before starting the construction, we assessed other film cities domestically and internationally. By incorporating the best features of each, our goal is to establish an international-standard film city here. The film city will also house a film institute, providing local talent with opportunities and reducing production costs for filmmakers. Additionally, it will create employment opportunities for the youth."

The film city will feature a "Film Village," complete with studios, malls, shops, and commercial complexes. Visitors and industry professionals will benefit from comprehensive facilities, including retail outlets, food courts, hotels, and guest houses—all within a single location.

Kapoor revealed that while the complete development of the film city will take around eight years, film shooting is expected to begin within just three years. The project aims to accommodate the production of over 300 films annually, spanning languages such as Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Bhojpuri, and English. The infrastructure will be designed to replicate any kind of international or domestic location, minimizing the need for filmmakers to travel abroad.

The estimated cost for the construction of Yamuna Film City stands at Rs. 1,510 crore. The development will be executed in three phases: the first phase will focus on creating film production facilities, the second phase will establish the necessary infrastructure, and the final phase will develop commercial activities.

During the land possession event, Kapoor and Bhutani engaged with local farmers affected by the land acquisition, listening to their concerns and discussing potential solutions.

Dr. Arun Veer Singh, CEO of the Yamuna Development Authority, confirmed the handover of the land in Sector 21 to the film city’s development company. He also mentioned that a request has been made to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to schedule the groundbreaking ceremony. Singh emphasized that film shooting activities are expected to start within three years of the foundation laying, marking a significant milestone in Uttar Pradesh's burgeoning entertainment industry.
