John Abraham Puts Football Biopic '1911' on Hold, Focuses on 'The Diplomat'
Mumbai, February 27: Bollywood actor and producer John Abraham has announced that his ambitious film project 1911, based on legendary footballer Shivdas Bhaduri, has been temporarily shelved. The film, produced under his banner J.A. Entertainment, was set to chronicle the historic victory of the Mohun Bagan football team in the 1911 IFA Shield final.
Initially slated to be directed by Shoojit Sircar, the film later saw Nikkhil Advani take over the directorial reins. Abraham was to portray the role of Bhaduri, capturing the inspiring journey of India's earliest football legends. However, despite the excitement surrounding the project, production has been put on hold indefinitely.
In an interview with PTI, Abraham shared his thoughts on the delay: “Unfortunately, the film is not happening at the moment. We've seen several football-based films... Do we want to make it? Definitely in the future, but for now, we've decided to pause the project.”
While 1911 remains in the pipeline, Abraham is currently gearing up for his next release, The Diplomat. Directed by Shivam Nair, this film is inspired by a true story, with Abraham playing the role of Indian diplomat J.P. Singh. The movie promises to explore the intriguing world of diplomacy and international relations.
The Diplomat is scheduled to hit theaters on March 14, offering audiences a glimpse of Abraham in a powerful and realistic role. Fans of the actor and cinema enthusiasts alike will be eagerly awaiting the film's release, even as they hope for 1911 to eventually see the light of day.
