'Udyog 2025' Exhibition Kicks Off in Surat with Focus on Innovation and Inclusivity
Surat, February 21: The South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) inaugurated the three-day 'Udyog 2025' industrial exhibition at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre, Sarsana on Friday. The event, running from February 21 to 23, was inaugurated by Prabhubhai Vasava, Member of Parliament for Bardoli. Key guests included Dr. Farooq Patel, Managing Director of KP Energy Limited, Milan Parikh, Chairman of Jainam Broking Limited, and Yash Lala, Station Director of Kakrapar Atomic Power Station (NPCIL).
In his opening address, SGCCI President Vijay Mevawala welcomed the attendees and emphasized the role of such exhibitions in showcasing entrepreneurial talent and innovation. He highlighted how the chamber, which has been organizing 12 to 15 exhibitions annually, started the Udyog exhibition in 1998 to bolster the industrial growth of South Gujarat. He also announced the introduction of a dedicated section for differently-abled individuals, marking a first in the exhibition's history. This new initiative, Divyang Street, aims to provide a platform for differently-abled entrepreneurs to display their products.
MP Prabhubhai Vasava praised the exhibition for promoting entrepreneurship and providing a crucial platform for businesses to grow. He stressed the importance of renewable energy initiatives, particularly as India plans to phase out diesel vehicles by 2030. With Gujarat leading the renewable energy sector, he encouraged entrepreneurs to innovate and contribute to India’s development.
Yash Lala, Director of Kakrapar Atomic Power Station, spoke about the Indian government’s goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070. He emphasized the critical role of nuclear and green energy in this mission, noting the 20,000 crore INR allocation in the Union Budget for developing nuclear energy and small reactors.
Milan Parikh, Chairman of Jainam Broking Limited, and Bijal Jariwala, SGCCI’s Exhibition Chairman, also addressed the gathering, sharing insights into the exhibition’s objectives. Bhavesh Taylor, Udyog 2025 Exhibition Chairman, provided detailed information about the event.
SGCCI Vice President Nikhil Madrasi extended a vote of thanks to the participants. The event saw the presence of dignitaries including Ramesh Vaghasia, Nirav Mandalewala, Mrunal Shukla, Sanjay Gajiwala, and former chamber presidents such as C.A. P.M. Shah, Amarnath Dora, Himanshu Bodawala, Prafulla Shah, and Prem Kumar Sharda.
With over 200 exhibitors and a strong focus on sustainability, technology, and inclusive growth, 'Udyog 2025' aims to set new benchmarks for industrial exhibitions in India. The event features innovations across sectors including textiles, renewable energy, nuclear technology, and entrepreneurship for differently-abled individuals, showcasing how Surat continues to lead as a business hub with a socially responsible approach.
