Goa Declares 'Chhava' Movie Tax-Free to Honor Maratha Warrior Sambhaji Maharaj
Panaji: The Goa government has announced that the upcoming historical film 'Chhava', based on the life of Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, will be tax-free in the state.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant shared this announcement on social media platform 'X' on Wednesday evening, highlighting the inspiration drawn from Sambhaji Maharaj’s sacrifice.
Sawant expressed, "I am delighted to announce that the film 'Chhava', showcasing the life and sacrifice of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, will be tax-free in Goa. His sacrifice for Dev (God), Desh (Country), and Dharma (Religion) remains a guiding inspiration for all of us."
The film, starring Vicky Kaushal, portrays the bravery and valor of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who fought fiercely against the Mughal and Portuguese forces. Sawant emphasized that the film brings the glorious history of Hindavi Swarajya to the screen, honoring the legacy of the second Chhatrapati of the Maratha Empire.
In a similar gesture, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also declared 'Chhava' tax-free in his state on Wednesday, coinciding with the 395th birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire and father of Sambhaji Maharaj.
Directed by Laxman Utekar, 'Chhava' features Vicky Kaushal in the lead role, along with Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna. The film is produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and promises to bring the heroic tale of Maratha valor to audiences nationwide.
