Sunny Deol Begins Shooting for ‘Border 2’ in Jhansi; Varun Dhawan Joins the Cast
New Delhi, February 18 – Bollywood actor Sunny Deol has officially commenced shooting for "Border 2" in Jhansi, marking the long-awaited sequel to J.P. Dutta’s 1997 war epic "Border".
Joining Deol on set was Varun Dhawan, one of the lead actors in the upcoming film. The announcement was made by production banner T-Series, which confirmed the start of filming through an official post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
Directed by Anurag Singh, the film also features Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty in pivotal roles. According to the makers, "Border 2" will offer a powerful blend of action, drama, and emotional depth, promising an intense cinematic experience.
The movie is set for a theatrical release on January 23, 2026.
The original "Border", released in June 1997, was a box office success, depicting a significant chapter of the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The film starred an ensemble cast including Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Sudesh Berry, Puneet Issar, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Tabu, Raakhee, Pooja Bhatt, and Sharbani Mukherjee. With "Border 2," the franchise aims to recreate the heroic spirit and patriotic fervor of its predecessor while bringing a fresh narrative to the screen.
