Tesla Begins Hiring in India, Signaling Entry into the Market
New Delhi, February 18 – Tesla, the American electric vehicle (EV) giant, has commenced hiring for various positions in India, indicating its potential market entry. The recruitment includes roles such as Business Operations Analyst and Customer Support Specialist, with job postings listed under the Mumbai suburban region on Tesla’s official website.
The listed positions cover multiple domains, including Service Advisor, Parts Advisor, Service Technician, Service Manager, Sales & Customer Support, Store Manager, Business Operations Analyst, Customer Support Supervisor, Delivery Operations Specialist, Order Operations Specialist, Inside Sales Advisor, and Consumer Engagement Manager.
While Tesla has not yet responded to queries regarding its official entry timeline into India, these job openings come shortly after Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s recent meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The anticipation surrounding Tesla’s arrival in India has been growing for years, with industry experts closely monitoring the company's moves.
Musk had previously postponed his planned visit to India in April last year, citing “very heavy Tesla obligations.” However, his potential trip to India was expected to coincide with an official announcement regarding Tesla’s expansion into the Indian market.
The hiring spree aligns with India's new EV policy, which offers import duty concessions for global manufacturers willing to invest at least $500 million in local manufacturing. The policy aims to attract major international players like Tesla, making India a key destination for electric mobility investments.
