Four Family Members Found Dead in Mysuru Home, Suspected Murder-Suicide

Mysuru, February 17 – A family of four was found dead in their home in Vishweshwaraya Nagar, Mysuru, on Monday, in what appears to be a murder-suicide case. Police suspect that Chetan (45), the head of the family, poisoned his wife Rupali (43), son Kushal (15), and mother Priyamvada (62) before hanging himself.

Mysuru Police Commissioner Seema Latkar confirmed the incident, revealing that the family lived in two separate apartments in Vidyaranyapura's Sankalp Apartments. Chetan stayed in one with his wife and son, while his mother lived separately in another. The deaths came to light after Chetan's brother Bharat, who lives in the United States, grew suspicious and contacted Rupali’s parents. When they arrived at the apartment, they discovered the tragedy and immediately alerted the police.

Investigations revealed that Chetan, a mechanical engineer, had previously worked in Dubai before moving to Mysuru in 2019. He was involved in an online business facilitating labor recruitment for Saudi Arabia.

The exact reason behind the deaths remains unclear, and forensic teams, along with the Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO), are investigating the case. The police commissioner stated that the family had visited a temple in Gorur the day before and later had dinner at Chetan’s in-laws' residence in Kuvempu Nagar, Mysuru.

Authorities are conducting further inquiries to establish the motive and circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
