Saurashtra University’s Ritu Vaja Wins Silver at 38th National Games in Uttarakhand
Rajkot, February 15 – Ritu Vaja, a second-year Bachelor of Arts student at J.J. Kundaliya Arts College, has brought pride to Saurashtra University once again by securing a silver medal at the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand. This achievement follows her recent bronze medal victory at the West Zone Games, and she is now set to be encouraged for participation in the World University Judo Championship.
The Department of Physical Education at Saurashtra University has played a crucial role in nurturing sports talent, leading to remarkable performances by athletes from Rajkot and across the Saurashtra region at national-level competitions. The university's reputation in the sports arena continues to grow, especially following its handball team’s national championship victory and Devyani Ba Jhala’s bronze medal win in the running competition.
Following Ritu Vaja’s success at the National Games, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Utpal Joshi and Director of Physical Education Dr. Harish Raba extended their congratulations, recognizing her outstanding contribution to university sports.
In the upcoming Board of Sports meeting, medal-winning athletes representing Saurashtra University at the national level will be awarded ₹25,000 each as a token of appreciation. Board members have also proposed special recognition for athletes recruited under the sports quota, reinforcing the university’s commitment to promoting sports and honoring its talented players.
